Concentration Is The Key To Effectiveness

Concentration

Concentration is necessary precisely because those desiring to be effective each and every day face many  tasks that clamor to be done.  However, it is by doing solely one thing at a time that achieves results faster than trying to do many things at once.  The more one can concentrate their  time, effort and resources, the greater the number and diversity of tasks they can actually perform.

The first rule for the effective concentration of effort is to slough off the past that has ceased to be productive. Concentrate instead on the present and the future.  While doing this though, be certain the following important priorities are identified:

  • Pick the future against the past
  • Focus on opportunity rather than on problems
  • Choose one’s own direction rather than climb on the bandwagon
  • Aim high and for something that will make a difference, rather than for something that is safe and easy to do

When focusing on tomorrow, company leaders have to face up to a very simple but brutal rule:

“One starves the problems, feeds the opportunities and above all else puts the resources on tomorrow where the results are and not on yesterday where the memories are.”

Wow. It's Quiet Here...
