No matter the size of your business, company, organization, etc. one thing always rings true; being involved in the community in which you do your business is always a good thing for everyone involved.  Your company can show how appreciated the support of the community is and the community will appreciate the acknowledgement.

First, you’ll want to pick a charity, local sports team, or something of the like to sponsor. If you can afford to, do more than one of these things. For example, you could donate 1% of your profits for the year to your local charity of choice and you could also sponsor one of the local summer baseball teams. When deciding how you would like to give back to your community, picking something relevant to your business is important. Your company will benefit by showing support for the customers that use your company’s services.

Next, you’ll want to get your employees involved. There are many ways to do this. Perhaps the employees go to cheer on the team that you are sponsoring, or during the holidays, the employees could volunteer at a soup kitchen, homeless shelter, etc. It doesn’t just have to be during the holidays though. A few employees at a time could take turns volunteering on scheduled workdays. This not only shows your support for the community, but it is also a way to up the morale within the employees. They will work together outside of work, which will lead to a better work environment during the workday!

Another idea that works well for some companies is the creation of their own scholarship. The scholarship can be for high school students and can be money for college. Be creative and have fun with it!

And don’t forget to promote what you do through your own website. When you share what you’re doing, it will inspire people to do the same as well as give your company the credibility it deserves. Your business might be small, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t make an impact. Have fun, be creative, and always remember your community is important to your business!
